Two accidents investigated

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department released reports Thursday on two accidents they investigated earlier this week.

At 4:14 a.m. Monday, Blaine P. Johnson, 21, W. Jefferson Street, Decatur, was westbound on US 224 when a deer ran out from the woods on the south side onto the roadway. Johnson was unable to avoid hitting the animal with the collision causing an estimated $2,501-$5,000 in damage to his car.

At 10:24 a.m. Wednesday, Michael A. Flees, 30, Deborah Lane, Berne, was headed south in the 1600 south block of US 27 when he suddenly lost control of his pick-up truck and the vehicle went off the roadway. The truck then struck a Jay County REMC utility pole and a mailbox owned by David Christner.

The police report also noted that as part of their investigation, they discovered Flees did not have a valid driver’s license, was not able to provide proof of having vehicle insurance, and the registration for the truck was inactive. He complained of hip and upper leg pain but refused medical attention at the scene.
