Flat 50 announces registration dates

The bike tour that travels through the entirety of Adams County is gearing up for its 33rd occurrence. The Flat 50 Plus Bicycle Tour, hosted by the Adams County Bicycle Club, will be taking place at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24th. This year the route will start and end at the Riverside Center in Decatur (last year it began at Bellmont High School) and will carry on through the cities of Willshire, Monroe, Berne, and Geneva, with all routes ending back in Decatur.

There will be five different routes that can be chosen from. The

smallest is a 20 miler, as well as a 30 miler, the classic 50 miler, a 62-mile route and the full 100-mile loop. All of the bikes will have the ability to download the GPS map from the event’s website and receive turn by turn directions for any of the tour distances while they are riding. This, along with accurate street markings, are one of the reasons the tour is considered one of the best bike tours in the area.

In addition to the biking itself, the event is not done without purpose, as all proceeds from the event go directly to the Decatur Optimist Club, the Decatur Lions Club, and the Local Boy Scouts.

Registration is currently open and is available for $32 until June 21st at midnight, at which point the price will rise to $40 up until the time of the ride. Participants under the age of 15 can ride for $10. Additionally, T-shirts can be ordered until June 18th, with a limited quality being available on the day of. Check-in will start at 6:30 a.m., with the window for the ride being 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Included with the price of admission is full fixed and mobile SAG support, a lunch stop featuring a bluegrass band performing live, and a route map. There will be minor repair services and emergency transportation available.
